The 3rd most important industry in San Diego is tourism, and it’s obvious why. Good weather year round is the rule in San Diego, but particularly May – August when tourists are on the move. San Diego is famed for its Zoo and Wild Animal Park. Visitors are likely to learn something about conservation that they can incorporate into their everyday lives.

Many people who make their homes further inland vacation in San Diego because of the ocean. Even those who live further north come for the unbeatable combination of water and sunshine.

A San Diego vacation is not complete without a visit to the beach. Playing in the surf, building sand castles, exploring tide pools and having a beach bonfire are inexpensive and fun. These are experiences that everyone should have. If you’re a little more adventurous about the water, try surfing, body boarding, sailing, fishing, or kayaking. This vacation paradise is conveniently located. Since it’s part of the continental U.S., it can be reached by car from much of the country.  Not having to fly makes a San Diego vacation much more affordable than other destinations, especially for families. San Diego hosts vacationers from many western states. Visitors from Orange County, Riverside and Los Angeles often go south for a quick weekend getaway, or even a day trip.

I have always wanted to go to Machu Picchu and last year I thought that my chance had gone. The washing away from rockfalls and rain meant that the railway line disappeared. Now the Inca trail to Macchu Pichu is a good idea but the walk means that you need to be there an extra seven days compared with taking the train to Machu Picchu. Well now it is back and it is as good as ever.
